The Project
Last semester, around 4 a.m. on April 17, 2024, forest green camping tents were set up on Columbia University’s South Lawn. They did not have the administration’s permission to be there, and that was the point. This encampment protest, which called on Columbia to divest from its financial ties to Israel, would go on to last two weeks and inspire a national and international movement. Including never-before-seen footage, photography, and soundbites from the two weeks of the protests, we retell the events of the encampment and the impact these 14 days had on Columbia and the nation.
